Mathematics
The Lexington Latin School draws a distinction between arithmetic, or the process of computation, and mathematics, a more advanced subject that includes algebra, geometry, and calculus. Younger students build basic skills in computation until, by the 7th grade, they have mastered these skills and are prepared to engage in more advanced mathematical study. We use the following math curriculum at LLS:
Grade Course
7th Grade Pre-Algebra, College of The Redwoods
8th Grade Algebra I, Prentice Hall
9th Grade Algebra II, Prentice Hall
10th Grade Geometry, McDougal Littell/Houghton Mifflin
11th Grade Pre-Calculus, Brooks Cole
12th Grade Calculus
